Hahahaha you're right Hawk, unsuspecting suckers will show up and get caught up in the work detail. Honestly they should do that, if you show up to shoot you have to put in at least 1hr of work or have your membership suspended hahaha I'm not going to gripe about too much club business but the current system is unsustainable when only new members are required to do work, but all work is volunteer only.

We used to have a caretaker who retired a few years back. The board decided not to replace him and put the responsibility of maintaining the club on volunteers. This was a mistake. The club has tripled it's membership since then and can easily afford to hire a contractor to do the work.

New (probationary) members are required to perform 4 hours of work parties their first year or opt out by paying (I think) $40. How does that $40 fee get the work done in lieu of the member doing it????
No requirement for work parties for regular members. The problem (I'm told) is the difficulty, or the lack of effort, to organize what needs done and scheduling the volunteers to do it.

It's not like the club is run down. Many of us volunteer willingly do the work, but we hear members complain about full trash barrels and pistol bays needing cleaned up. The pistol bays get a lot of use and trash is an issue (apparently we have members who don't feel they need to cleanup after themselves).

Anyways, PMSC is still the best club in the Pittsburgh Area. I suspect that a few board members are pushing for PMSC to have the look and feel of a country club.
