My screen name should give it away.

    I have a P85, (3) P89's & (2)P90's.
They have their short comings but I have been abusing a P89 for 20+ years and it won't die.
I even went as far to track down a PC9 just because they belong together and who doesn't like a 9mm carbine?
Even better when they share mags.

Completely agree. They are the Volvo 240 of handguns.

My first handgun - Ruger P90. Excellent reliability, good accuracy. The shape of the gun makes for a lower grip to bore axis and causes a bit more muzzle flip than say a 1911 but it is still an excellent shooter 20 yrs later and looks brand new after thousands of 45 and 400 corbon rounds.

Got a p90 in the early 90's was my first duty gun when I got out of the academy . Most accurate semi auto I ever owned and it would digest every possible bullet shape and length without an issue . It would actually feed empty brass from the magazine !!! Only things I ever changed on it was cut off the lanyard loop and change out the front sight for a tritium night site .Yep it was big blocky not easy on the eyes but I felt 100 percent confident with it in my holster . Best two loads I ever fired it was the Rem 185 +P and the Corbon 200 gr +p with that huge hollow point , and it loved 250 gr swc handloads I used for bowling pin shoots .

I agree that the trigger guard would benefit from being raised up toward the slide. However, my Smith & Wesson 2nd Generation 539 has a similar design, so I'm accustomed to it.

I think the P90 serves a role similar to the Makarov PM: an affordable but *very* well made pistol that will be 100 percent reliable, and will last indefinitely.

The most frequent complaint about the P90 is that it's big and ungainly. I find it no bigger or more ungainly than a SIG P220, and the SIG is well liked.

When you run out of ammo you can throw it and still do bodily harm.

I have a p95 that has never choked on anything that I've run through it. I'd definitely pick up a p90 if the price was right, really any of the old p-series guns. I've seen p89's for sale in highpoint price ranges already. For the money they're pretty hard to beat. I really would love to find a nice p345 sometime. That's the one I actively look for at the local shops anymore.

I have both the P90 DC version and the modified P85 (Mk II). I agree, built like a KV 1 tank (look up early WWII Russian tanks) and eats anything. Dave_n

Good comparison. Had an 83 240, reliable and safe.

Have had a p90 dc 45 new since 98 or 99. It was the first pistol I bought. Stainless slide with hogue wrap around grips. Only gun to properly fill my huge mitts!

Original mags held 7, newer ones bought a few years ago hold 8. 45acp. Only thing it won't digest is 185 gr lead flat nose.

Still have it. It was at my side when outside or mowing when frein was in the woods!
FIL has a newer plastic one that I don't care for.

P90 was the very first handgun I ever bought. Still have it. Its eats any ammo, the thing is a tank. If I had to pick any handgun to go to a SHTF confrontation, it would be any of the P series.
    Don’t like me ???? Tough, I don’t give a flying f@@k about ya.
