Re: JRA BM-59 issues
Remember though that JRA's manual does state "M80" ammo only.
as my previous posts I tried several and all had similar results..
My verdict is still out on this rifle.. I shoot the M1 and I shoot the M1A.. If it cycles I will shoot it. I need to zero the irons.. I am close but need to dial it in.

Re: JRA BM-59 issues
Most 308 Garands and M1A/M14 clones do well with pressure ranges similar to the M80 loads available. There are some 168 and 175 grain bullet weight loads that may be OK, such as the Federal " M1A ammo" and the GI sniper loads, but the above posts are correct that you should exercise caution in ammunition selection.
If the BM59 utilizes a M1 Garand or M14 compatible gas plug you may want to consider purchasing an adjustable gas plug or one designed to bleed excess gas. A Schuster Gas Plug is an example of this and is what I use on most of my rifles of this type, to reduce recoil and excess wear on the rifle, and as an additional guard against oprod damage when shooting heavier loads.
