Re: Considering a wheel gun for ankle carry
I ankle carry a glock 27(26), it's not bad, but I imagine a lighter weight gun would be even better.
This is the rig that I use: https://smile.amazon.com/Desantis-Ap...lster+glock+26Last edited by ExFlyinguy; May 21st, 2017 at 10:47 AM. Reason: added link

Re: Considering a wheel gun for ankle carry
I got to fondle both an Airweight and an LCR today. I most deffo do like the weight of the LCR but side by side the Smith may have had a slightly better trigger. Granted, it may have been a round count thing since both were rentals but I'm also sure that more than enough aftermarket exists for both options. I need to pack my range bag one day and stop on my way home.

Re: Considering a wheel gun for ankle carry
Have you researched ankle holsters yet? You will find a common size is G26. Wheel guns are great but you don't need one to ankle carry.

Re: Considering a wheel gun for ankle carry
Been carrying a S&W Model 40 as my BUG in a DeSantis ankle holster for years. A good holster makes the difference.

Re: Considering a wheel gun for ankle carry
Been down this road. I find the G26 is a bit heavy and bulky for ankle carry, especially wearing Levis 550's (legs a bit too tight). I looked hard at S&W 442/642 for ankle carry. It's lighter, but the size is about the same as a G26 and I'd be giving up 5 rounds and it's quite snappy even with standard loads. I carried the Keltec P3AT and also hated the snappy recoil when praticing. I ended up with a Keltec P-32 for ankle carry. From day one it was so comfortable to ankle carry I forgot it was there. I choose a .32 over 380 because the .32 is much more manageable out of a mouse gun without giving up too much in "punch and penetration".
Don't forget that whatever you choose to carry, you need regular range time with it. If it hurts to shoot, you won't look forward to practicing with it. (the G26 has always been a pleasure to shoot)Toujours prêt
