Re: S&W Shield...consider me a fan.
Having carried the .45 a few times, the only negative is I need to wear an undershirt while carrying. I prefer cc and the grip is like sandpaper against my skin. Other than that no complaints.

I might have to pick up a 2nd and 3rd for my wife and son (for 18-21 years from now for him).

Re: S&W Shield...consider me a fan.
I'm actually debating getting one now.
Usually when I do this, the item sells out while I try to make up my mind, so I figure that will happen again.
Debating between the 9mm or 45ACP.
Safety? Either way is OK - same gun otherwise from what I can tell - just leave the safety off.
9mm is $199 (after rebate) shipped free
45ACP is $254.99 (after rebate) + $17 shipping = $271.99
Is it worth an extra $72 to carry 45ACP?
Maybe, but not critical, and I shouldn't be buying a gun anyway, so maybe the less expensive route would be the better choice.
I want to carry something bigger than a 380 and I just don't like to carry my G19 because it's like a brick.
Hmmmm...
Hard to argue with $200 for a popular 9mm carry gun.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Re: S&W Shield...consider me a fan.
I picked up the shield 45 [ waited for them to make it as I prefer it over 9mm ] several months ago. It was to be the hot summer here gun and weighs 15 ounces lighter than my loaded 45 1911 while only dropping one round available. I thought the 1# saving would be worth it. I've carried it since running it through it's paces, it shoots in my hands every bit as well as my 1911's I've carried for 4 + decades.
Relative the mags, like others have experienced and reported, they are hell on wheels to load manually. Even after dumping a few thousand through it, I still need the uplula to load the last round or suffer serious load thumb.
One thing I've noticed with mine. If the mag release hasn't been used for several days, it's a little sticky and I believe would impede an otherwise emergency reload. So I've gone to dropping the mag each morning two or three times and that's just my own workaround for my gun, not sure if others have experienced the same with their 45 shield or not. Is the 45 physically wider than the 9mm?
Nevermind. Saw someone say it's wider.
9mm it is then.
Now I just have to make the decision to pull the trigger.Last edited by Emptymag; June 22nd, 2017 at 10:36 PM.

Re: S&W Shield...consider me a fan.
Thanks.
Unfortunately I have come to my senses and will not be ordering one.
I just had to put rear brakes, rotors, and calipers on the truck.
The truck needs tires - badly.
The window motor went out in the car.
The condensate pump for the house AC died and I had to order a new one.
The AC for the sun room stopped working.
I caught a rock to the left lens of my glasses today and the scratch is large enough to justify needing new glasses.
I'm sure I'm forgetting a few things - and this was all just in the last few days.
It never ends and it's getting old.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!
