Get now or wait?

I am still in NY but planning to move to PA soon, I have a florida CCW but would like to get a PA just to be safe. If I get a send in my info now to get a N/R CCW can I get it changed to a Res. as soon as I change my residency?
Would it just be easier to wait untill I am settled in down there use my FL in the interm and then just get my PA res CCW?

If it was me, i'd just use my FL CCW and wait till after I moved to get my PA LTCF (for future reference, PA has a License to Carry Firearms that covers concealed carry, as well as open carry in Philadelphia, carry of a loaded gun in a vehicle, stops between home and gun shop/range/smith, and a few other things).

Well, unless you have a New York State license, you're going to have to wait. Pennsylvania will only issue out-of-state LTCFs if you have a similar license from your home state. If you're a New Yorker with a Florida license, you can carry in Pennsylvania but you can't get a Pennsylvania license.

Of course, if you already have a New York State license, there's certainly no harm in getting the Pennsylvania license now. It's good for five years, and you don't have to worry about your address change.

Its a full carry permit, any time all the time...why the specifics there?

I listed specifics bc some methods of carry transport don't require an LTCF while other do, and having spoken to friends and family from states that issue concealed weapons permits that only allow CC, if found its easier for most people to grasp the differences between them if you state them from the beginning.

There are some "specifics" involved because unlike New York, here in Pennsylvania you do not need a license to own or purchase a handgun. The "specifics" (to and from point of purchase, range, etc.) apply when one does not have a license. Once you have a Pa. LTCF, or one that Pennsylvania recognizes (e.g., Florida), you can carry anywhere not prohibited by law.

Thank you all for the usefull replys. OK one question I have now is this, If my florida CCW has a NY address, will I get in trouble during the time I am waiting for either a revised florida or a new PA ltcf?
