Re: No sheriff, county can't issue LTCF. Options?
The fact is that THERE IS AN ACTING SHERIFF. It may be the undersheriff, it may be the first deputy but there is someone in charge. They have 45 days plain and simple to issue your LTCF. If not, I suggest yes you get a lawyer. Holly Garner seems to be the acting defacto Sheriff. The newspapers say the department is acting smoothly. So if you just want to sit there and do nothing by all means do so. But you have a right to your permit within 45 days of filing your application or renewal. I would immediately seek an attorney. But again, if you want to play doormat that is your choice.

Hmmm....George Soros could fuck up Pennsylvania gun licensees for a mere $67 million. A million bucks given to each sheriff to "retire".

A county judge has issued an order allowing the deputy sheriff to sign the licenses:

Jeez, and I was just ready to stop being a doormat and call the attorney I keep on retainer for just such events.

Re: No sheriff, county can't issue LTCF. Options?
I was just about to post that an appointment with the Blair Co. judge would likely help. The Sheriff's office is the enforcement arm of the Co. court, and it is within the Co. judge's purview to grant Sheriff powers to an undersheriff to become Acting Sheriff. Judge Doyle appears to have done so yesterday.
No doubt local Blair Co politics are at play here; it could be something as simple as a "slowdown" on the part of chief deputy Garner because of dissatisfaction with the way Sheriff McClure was discharged, or a ploy by leftist/progressives to limit firearms license issuance. Deputy Garner was also not performing decreed sale of property, so I personally think it is something to do with the former possibility, and not just an anti-firearm thing. Either way, it's just speculation, but I still think that it took Judge Doyle to write up a court order to Chief Deputy Garner instructing her "enough of these shenanigans," and "do your f__king job."
ETA: Personally, I would have also added in the CO that the backlog of LTCFs need to be processed and mailed by COB 18 May, with proof of mailing, and the pending property sales be posted and advertised by COB 22 May.
