You're right. Reading the text of the law is better yet.

I'm loving the idea that I can now use my Browning BuckMark for hunting. Plus......I have a suppressor that I move between my BuckMark and a bolt 22 rimfire (and a .17 Hornet if I ever get my lazy arse to the 'Smith to get the barrel threaded). So....I can "sneak" up to those hole clumps with my orange hat covered in orange sprayed leaves......and just wait!! I'll film it. I'll call it "Sniper Steel" and the G-Hog death squad of one!!!

Yeah.....I mis-read that one. I read "gas operated" and my eyes glazed over and my brain went to "gas blowback" and then my thinking just seized. Then I re-read the Digest. Oh well.....I guess if I wanna 22-LR for those close one's, a 22-LR AR is in my future.

I hunt mostly in the special regs areas so no semi auto rifles for me either.

no ammo capacity restrictions for small game? don't see any listed in the guide, except for shotguns.

Correct, they need to stop that nonsense for the shotguns too.

Sorry for the zombie thread reply...

I have a question regarding semi-auto rifles and caliber specifically for groundhog hunting.

Page 48of the new Hunting & Trapping guide has the ammo and firearm rules. It states in part (paraphrasing) that semi-auto rifles in .22 or less can be used for small game hunting. At the end of the same paragraph, there is a Note which states there is no caliber restriction for groundhogs.

Does this mean we can now legally hunt groundhogs with a 5.56/.223 AR?

    Hmmm...
