Bipod yields better results than a bag. How come??

I only use my Harris for one thing. Blasting the living crap outta stuff. I shook the thing to pieces within a few months of buying it and had to go to Home Depot for bolts, washers, nuts. It's got brass hardware on it now LOL.

Mount it so that when it's folded, the legs are pointing forward...

I'm supposed to put the bipod folded forward on the bag then the gun on top of the bipod right? Cause I tried that and it keeps sliding off.

In all seriousness the gun is from 1955 and set up with a movable hand stop for high power shooting. But of course the screw holes are some odd size that isn't readily available so I'll have to fabricate something for it.

I have one bipod that also goes 45 degrees forward and backwards, it works but introduces some really bad bipod hop so I prefer to have the legs straight up and down.

It's probably better natural point of aim. Most people don't use a lot of bag.

It also my be the way the rifle is recoiling off the bag (sliding ) compared to shooting with a bipod (not as much rearward sliding )

Having said that, and given that I'm typically shooting for accuracy not speed on either one, my cycle-time on the bipod is much longer. Invariably it 'hops' and I have to reposition - probably a full second between shots IF I'm pushing for speed. On a bag I still have to 're-aim' but not reposition so it's much faster (small fraction of a second).

When you "load" the front legs against resistance, there's little or no "jump".

In the USMC UTD test, you are given five seconds for a follow up shot if you miss a target with the first. Knowing how to load the bipod is essential to having a chance to hit with the second shot.

My shooting mat has a strap sewn on specifically for loading the bipod.

I get 0.07 seconds between followup shots and my bipod stays on the table because I hold it on the table.
