suppressor host 22 semi auto pistol
Thinking I may need a threaded 22...I've narrowed my options to one of the following...
http://www.browning.com/products/fir...sor-ready.html
cq5dam.web.250.250.jpeg
$462 plus shipping and transfer
http://ruger.com/products/markIV2245...ets/43909.html
43909.jpg
$434 plus shipping and transfer
http://www.smith-wesson.com/firearms...hreaded-barrel
10201-SW22-threaded_1.jpg
$336 plus shipping and transfer
Also considering threading my mark 1 barrel, or getting a threaded barrel for the high standard.
and interested finding a threaded barrel for my CZ P07 Kadet kit.

Re: suppressor host 22 semi auto pistol
I prefer the Buckmark over the new laywered up Rugers. I run both a Buckmark and a Mark II suppressed.
I also like the inexspensive option of the top rail for the Buckmark and the $60 reflex reddot sight.
Edit :My original Buckmark didnt come with a rail.www.Steelvalleycasting.com is your new home for coated bullets and custom ammo.

Re: suppressor host 22 semi auto pistol
Buy them all. lol I probably bought a dozen 22's looking for the perfect host. Out of the 3 you show I have the lite and the victory. I have Heard real good things about the browning .I don't think you
will go wrong with any of them.

Re: suppressor host 22 semi auto pistol
Have you considered the M&P 22 Compact? It's the most reliable 22 pistol host that I have owned. Granted, I have not owned any of the options that you listed, but for roughly $270 shipped it's tough to beat. Just another option to consider...

Re: suppressor host 22 semi auto pistol
I have a victory and love it. It is reliable and fun to shoot. I have an M&P 22 full size also. I like it but I'm constantly having issues, that is the reason I bought the victory and haven't looked back.

Re: suppressor host 22 semi auto pistol
So the pistols posted above have threaded barrels? Sorry for the ignorance but does that mean they are ready for a suppressor? Does a suppressor silence a 22 quite a bit? What hoops would one have to jump through to legal possess a suppressor? Sorry for the stupid questions, it's just a topic I've never researched.
Thanks, and sorry to hijack your thread.

Re: suppressor host 22 semi auto pistol
Yes, the above guns with threaded barrels are ready to have a suppressor mounted and used.
It depends on the .22 round you are using. A subsonic .22 with a suppressor is almost Hollywood quiet. If using a supersonic round, the muzzle blast is quieted but you will hear the supersonic crack of the bullet.
This answer is very brief: You have to file a form with the ATF (Form 4) to have the needed background check (BGC) and get the tax stamp for the suppressor. The Tax stamp costs $200 and right now the BGC and approval time is about 8-10 months. With the form you must submitted fingerprints and passport photos for the BGC. Any FFL who also holds a SOT (allowing them to deal with suppressors and such) can explain it in detail. You can also go on line to the BATFE web site for the info.
Not stupid questions at all, many people don't know what to do and fail to ask. A suppressor is considered an NFA item (National Firearms Act) just like a short barreled rifle (SBR), short barreled shotgun (SBS) or a fully automatic weapon (machine gun). These items are strictly controlled by the BATFE but there is a bill going through Congress right now to have suppressors taken out of the NFA and they will then be regulated and sold like any other firearm (the $200 tax stamp would go away).
OP, if you wanted to go with a smaller .22, consider the Ruger SR-22 with the threaded barrel. I use a SR-22 with a Ruger Silent-SR suppressor as a demo unit to allow people to see/hear what a suppressor can do.Ron USAF Ret E-8 FFL01/SOT3 NRA Benefactor Member

Re: suppressor host 22 semi auto pistol
I do have a Ruger MKII that I had threaded for shooting with a can and I do enjoy shooting it, but when I decided to buy another 2 host I went with a factory threaded S&W Victory. No complaints so far.
