PA concealed carry question
With respect to a state park:
Hunting is permitted on 18,000 acres (7,300 ha) of Ohiopyle State Park. Hunters are expected to follow the rules and regulations of the Pennsylvania Game Commission. The common game species are ruffed grouse, eastern gray squirrel, wild turkey, American black bear, white-tailed deer and eastern cottontail rabbits. Hunting of groundhogs is prohibited. Loaded firearms are not permitted within 50 feet (15 m) of the river. The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission assures that anglers will have plenty of chances to catch fish by stocking trout in the waters of Youghiogheny River. All fishermen are required to follow the rules and regulations of the fish commission.

Re: PA concealed carry question
Seeing as it opens up with hunters' regulations and hunting game I would expect that to apply to hunters. I would not construe it to apply to concealed carry.

Re: PA concealed carry question
Gun laws seldom make sense. Most are the result of emotional reaction and not logical thinking.

Re: PA concealed carry question
Maybe. But that is not what it explicitly says. But even if it did - the implication would be that hunters can't conceal carry near the river.
But that raises another question....if you are "hunting" with a gun, but your hunting gun isn't loaded, are you hunting at that very moment? If not, would the requirement in question apply to you, if it is only aimed toward hunters?
I'm not a hunter..not trying to skate on some hunter requirement. I'm not just keen on disarming because I may be within 50' of a river. Might run into a man living in a van down by that river...could get ugly.Last edited by free; May 10th, 2017 at 09:15 AM.

Re: PA concealed carry question
I would think this supersedes that provision.
2525. Possession of firearm protection of self or others.
(a) General rule.--It is lawful for a law enforcement officer
or any person who possesses a valid license to carry a firearm
issued under 18 Pa.C.S. § 6109 (relating to licenses) to be in
possession of a loaded or unloaded firearm while engaged in any
activity regulated by this title.
(b) Construction.--
(1) This section shall supersede any prohibition on the
possession of a firearm or ammunition contained in any other
provision of this title.
(2) This subsection shall not be construed to permit the
hunting or harvesting of any wildlife with a firearm or
ammunition not otherwise permitted by this title.
