I keep wifi turned off on my phone. Even if you don't connect to a store's network, it can be used to track your movements, including exactly where you stop and how long you spend looking at something.

I don’t care. Let someone know I was in Home Depot and looking at the latest Dewalt tools. Who cares? But keeping Wifi off IS a good idea for preserving battery life.

Do not connect to public wifi, or if you do, don't do anything meaningful or use any device you care about.

So many doom and gloom warnings about public wifi. Look all you have to do is use a VPN. You should be doing that anyway. If you’re not using VPN on your devices, whether they connect via WIFI or your cellular connection, you’re essentially giving permission for whomever is providing that connection to spy on what you are doing. NOT using a VPN is beyond stupid.

I never heard of Walmart until maybe 1997-1998. Growing up, the shittiest place you could buy anything was K-Mart. The last thing you wanted was to be teased for having your clothes come from K-Mart.
