Default Non-resident LTCF: Big Thanks to Sheriff Weaknecht!

Now that I am no longer in Philadelphia, or PA for that matter, I decided to get a non-resident LTCF because PA does not accept my MN permit. Centre County issued LTCFs to non-residents by mail back when that was possible, but now I think the place to go is Berks County at the Reading Regional Airport substation. Easy, free parking and the best service I have heard of: walked in with my completed form and my MN permit and walked out in less than 15 minutes with my PA LTCF.

    Big Thanks!

Glad to here you had a good experience. We have a good sheriff here. Your experience is typical of what we can expect when we go in for an application or renewal. Now if we could just get that level of cooperation from some of the rest of our counties, we would be in better shape.

Thank you cgk for posting your experience here. As a non-resident applicant myself from Massachusetts, trying to gather information on counties and their policies has been rather obnoxious. Now I know exactly where to head to.

Going at the end of this week to get mine. Anything I should know? Do they give a problem if you check your reason for obtaining self defense?

I had mine done, in and out, in under 15 minutes. The nice thing is since I had a prior state's issued recently no extensive background check was needed.

As for my reasoning, I checked other and filled down "All lawful purposes" as a habit/tip from Massachusetts, where they look for reasons to limit you based on your reasoning if you don't have the best CoP or sheriff. With Sheriff Weaknecht and the county here, it may not be an issue to just check self-defense as the primary reason.

Anywho, good luck to you and hope you too can join the crew.
