New gun owner in Montco - Training nearby?
Hi all. I am a new gun owner in Montco looking for training on firearm safety, cleaning and maintenance, and learning how to shoot. While I recently received my license to conceal carry, I have no intention of carrying or even loading my firearms until I've been properly trained.
Does anyone have any recommendations for good places to learn the basics as I've described above? Classes and seminars are great, but I would also like some one-on-one personal training when it comes to actual shooting.
Thank you, and I apologize if this question has been asked before.

You're right near Classic Pistol. I would try there. I believe they have classes and shooting instructors

ive used cajunarms for training classes. Jim is a great guy and his classes are worth the time. hand gun 1 when available is a good place to start, imo. you will travel a bit as his local class is in chesco.
king shooters has cleaning classes. they are in KOP and is a real nice shop.

+1 on Classic Pistol.
It has been a while but they were a decent outfit when I was there years ago.
You can do a search on google maps for "indoor gun ranges near me".
Most indoor ranges are open to the public and most offer training classes.
I would call Classic Pistol, and if that doesn't work out then call the indoor ranges on the Google maps list.
If you are still having trouble come back and post a follow up and someone (me or others) will help you find a place. How can you have any cookies if you don't drink your milk?

Start here: https://firearmtraining.nra.org/
I don't know your area so I can't recommend any specific trainers/classes, but you should be able to find something at the above link.

Thanks everyone! Classic Pistol sounds like a good place to start, and I'll certainly check out that website.

Welcome to PAFOA and the wonderful scary world of personal responsibility for your own freedom and protection.
You are in THE premier location for no BS truth on gun laws and practical application in PA.
Training is great...........as long as your trainer is not full of BS.
There are some very good trainers and others, not so great.

Mark is right, my bad.
Welcome to the PAFOA.
Congratulations on your new gun ownership and carry permit.
Thank you for being sensible enough to get training before you shoot and carry.
We are always glad to see new people doing it right.
If you have any questions or problems regarding your gun or permit, post it in the 'General' forum anytime, and people here will help you get it figured out.
Best of luck to you, and please be safe.

Thank you, especially for acknowledging I am going about this the responsible way.
Being a new gun owner and walking into a shop knowing nothing is a bit intimidating. I was even a bit hesitant to post here. But the warm welcome I received is very reassuring. Ultimately, I take both CCW and personal/home defense very seriously.
