Consecutive numbered guns...are they worth more to you?
As some of you know, I picked up five of the USMC decommissioned M45A1s. I've sold three, which means I'm a little better than even on the deal. One of the ones I have left has a brother (next number in series) on Gunbroker. I'm trying to determine if it's worth going back into the red for a larger gain down the road. I wouldn't consider it if it were common, off the shelf guns. Distributors and dealers often end up with consecutive numbers on those. This is limited to 1000 units in total. They're currently selling for about $3300 each. Would you pony up $7500 or more for two with consecutive numbers?
Would any of you collectors out there spend more to have consecutive serial numbers of rare pieces in your collections even if these don't interest you?"A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself"
