Anyone using a Red Dot on AK & where is it mounted?
Looking at options for mounting a RDS on an AK47. I've looked at dogleg dust cover mount, side mount over the dust cover and gas tube rail mounts. I'm looking for real world experience and the pros and cons of your set up.
Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Re: Anyone using a Red Dot on AK & where is it mounted?
I had a Russian Kobra sight mounted on my AK-74. I used the side mount but had to shim it to get it properly sighted in due to the scrappy workmanship on the Romanian AK I built into a 74 clone. The sidemount is the way to go. Dust cover mounts will lose zero.

Re: Anyone using a Red Dot on AK & where is it mounted?
I have an RS Regulate for a T1/H1.
Shot it a bit, ran a half of a class with it. Took it off on purpose a couple of times to see if it held zero. Good to go.
Had no issues at all. Locks up super tight when you have the screw adjusted correctly.
Actually sold that AK and moved the H1 to my 45/70.
So if you are looking for one in that flavor let me know.HGW, llc ~ Title 1 & NFA sales/manufacturing ~ Transfers - Title 1 $20 - NFA $50

Very happy with my dogleg dust cover mount.
Mounted Just behind the OEM rear sight by about an inch.

Re: Anyone using a Red Dot on AK & where is it mounted?
For a RDS, I use an ultimak. If I ever shot corrosive ammo, I would go with an RS regulate. Ultimak doesn't hold zero if you take the gas tube off to clean it.

In a plinking category, I have it on a dust cover with rail. Works fine. You definitely wouldn't want to be the target within 50 yards.

I would highly recommend Attero Arms mounts. They are very receptive if you have any suggestions on improving their mounts.
