Take the scope off and shoot it with the open sights if it shoots the same then it's a gun issue not the scope /rings/ mounts ect . Eliminate one variable at a time

What were the specific charge weights in the reloads ?..yours and his...

And BLC2 can be very fussing at Max charge weights.

My 168 SMK loads allegedly duplicate the Federal Match used by military in propellant: 42.8gr IMR 4064. Do well in my Savage with 24" bbl. I suspect one of the things that may be upsetting the apple cart is the shorter scout barrel...plus whatever else is going on with his rifle or scope. I don't know his BLC2 loads.

    This.

While M1A's are fussy... it should shoot better then this thread says.

And I am not a fan of BLC2... it gets spooky at some point and will go over the pressure peak fast / all of a sudden.

    Read this as well....

If you are unable to fix the problem call Ron Smith of Smith Industries out here in Phoenix AZ. His family has been into that weapon for longer then I know. He can help you over the phone.

Sorry for my lack of response to the posted help. I only bump into this gentleman if we both happen to simultaneously come to the club range. Last time I saw him I gave him a list of suggestions I had assembled from these posts. I haven't seen him for a while.

Also... I read an article / thread somewhere... that showed a abysmal factory crown job on the end of the barrels muzzle.

So if you see the gentleman again... you might mention that as well.
