    True, but bullet geometry and material also play a roll. Check out the ridiculous penetration of just a 9mm with the Lehigh Defense "Xtreme Penetrator" bullet:

    I'm in the same situation. For Bears I carry the Buffalo bore bear loads. Cant go wrong with buffalo bore. I don't feel under gunned at all. No need to buy a 44 mag
