Default Now I don't know a lot about ars...

But I know this isn't right

Took her to the range this weekend and had some problems with it. The trigger not resetting primarily. Fixed that, and it seemed to be fine, until I was able to spin the buffer tube with my finger. Finally got it apart tonight and the pictures show what I found. I'm assuming I need a new recoil spring retaining thing...technical term I know. But there's that little black price in there that I don't know what it is.

This is a pistol build if that matters.

Black thing is the buffer retainer detent/pin. The spring goes under the detent and the buffer tube retains it and keeps it from popping out. What buffer tube are you running?

    Heres the spring. http://www.primaryarms.com/black-rai...r-spring-lr-02

What happened to the buffer retaining pin? Where is it?

I think the pin was in the pic in the trigger area -oily thing next to the rear takedown pin. Pick that up, flip over the bentish spring (after backing out the buffer tube a turn or two), put the pin back in and push down and then bring the buffer tube back to the pin. Release the pressure and it will stay. Tighten the buffer tube ring (which is probably where the problem started).

Yup, its laying there inside the lower.

For the buffer tube nut to cause that problem, wouldn't the entire assembly (tube, plate, nut, stock) have to rotate at least 45-90* counter clockwise?
I'm betting the tube was not spun in far enough when it was put together. And one extra turn was binding too much on the retaining pin, so the builder backed it back off and it was just barely catching the pin.
That's why you see some buffer tubes with a notch in them, to get that extra turn of the tube into the extension threads.

Make sure the buffer tube is threaded into the lower far enough that it FULLY covers the detent. Then tighten the castle nut with a proper castle nut wrench ($5 investment, worth it). I like blue loctite, staking the castle nut or both since I never plan to disassemble/change anything with the lower.

Cigarmanpa that's an easy fix. If you don't have the wrench I have one. If you are near the Reading/Pottstown or even Cabellas/C.I. in Hamburg area I would be glad to help you fix it.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm actually on the other side of the state. pittsburgh area. I'm going to have to see if I can find someone with the parts I need because shipping is killing me on this.
