    Default Shooting a 50 cal

    Hello all.

First of all, i hope this post is okay and allowed.

I am a danish guy, aged 26 (27 in may) who will be visiting New Jersey, in August.

I own a danish hunting license, and a .308 rifle.

I have always wanted to try to fire a 50 cal rifle, and i was wondering if that would be possible anywhere, where it doesn't cost $200 just to look at it, and then pay a ton for ammo afterwards?

I'd be bringing a friend from New Jersey who i'll be staying with, and needless to say, i don't mind paying for the ammo at all, and i am willing to give you something for your time 😊

I hope i don't come along as insensitive or rude, as that is in no way what i'm going for 😊

    Best of regards
    Nick.

    Greetings.

Sorry to be the one to tell you that you picked the wrong state to visit. NJ is one of the worst places in terms of gun laws/rights. I know that you cannot even touch/handle a firearm in NJ without paperwork.

You really should consider coming to PA to try to shoot a 50BMG. That being said, I don't know any places that actually rent 50BMG as many gun ranges won't even allow it's members to shoot 50BMG due to their policies or the risk of fire from using API/APIT ammo.

Some of us on the forum own 50BMG and you might be able to convince someone to allow you to shoot it if you say buy the ammo that you are shooting.

Being in NJ is no impediment to you shooting a .50 BMG rifle. Finding one and a range that will let you, may be another question. The owner has to be there with you, but I doubt you'd find any owner anywhere that wouldn't insist on that anyway.

    Good luck in your quest.

Depending upon where in NJ you will be, a drive to TSS in Avondale, PA might be doable.
