    I'd get a Police Trade-in Smith & Wesson M&P 40 from Aimsurplus.com. It's $299.95

My P95 goes with me most places. I got it new for under $300 several years ago.

That was my first 9mm. I gifted it to my son for Christmas. Never FTF, exception is the magazines. There are some poor aftermarket mags out there.

surplus CZ-83. You can still get them for ~300 bucks. You'll probably have to go on an auction site.

They are reliable and solid pistols that are big enough for home defense and small enough to carry everyday. 380 or 9x18 ammo, from that sized barrel, is not *that* bad for self defense needs.

Just got back from my FFL with a S&W M&P Shield .45.
Total cost after the $75 rebate and including my FFL will be under $300 by a few bucks.

I might have missed something, has anybody figured out if holster is in the $300? IWB or OWB? Please don't say OC, that's just going to make this harder.

No matter the price, the answer is the Glock 19... if you don't have enough $, save for another month or use a credit card. Simple really

Nice. I used to have a Walkther PPK clone made in Romania that looks like a Mak. Loved it, but traded it in for a lighter carry .380 (Bersa Thunder). Got some nasty slide bite from it a few times too and my wife couldn't rack it. I want her to be able to operate any gun I bring into the house in case she needs it.

Anyways...how hard is it to get mags for a Pol-Mak?

While I like the little things, I have to disagree with it being a good one handgun choice.

Flippy recoil, slightly odd ammo to find depending on location and generally not a pleasant shooting gun for most people.
