Pennsylvania: Senate Firearms Preemption Bill Expected for Floor Vote Next Week
Thursday, April 20, 2017
Important preemption legislation, Senate Bill 5, could go to the Senate floor for a vote as early as next week. Sponsored by state Senator Wayne Langerholc, Jr. (R-35), SB 5 would further clarify existing law to ensure that firearm and ammunition laws are consistent throughout the Keystone state. Anti-gun billionaire Michael Bloomberg and the gun control groups he bankrolls are actively trying to defeat this legislation!

State firearms preemption was enacted by the Pennsylvania Legislature over three decades ago to avoid the possibility of a complex patchwork of regulations across the state which make it difficult for responsible firearm owners to ensure they are following the law. However, in recent years many local governments have enacted gun control ordinances in violation of this current law.
Citizens with no criminal intent should not be placed in jeopardy of running afoul of local restrictions they don`t even know exist simply because they have crossed from one municipality to another. Gun owners continue to be unduly burdened by local ordinances which violate the current state firearm preemption law. SB 5 would correct this problem by ensuring laws regarding firearms and ammunition are uniform across the state.
Similar legislation was signed by former Governor Tom Corbett in 2014 but was struck down by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court last year for a violation of the “single subject” rule for legislative process. It is imperative that SB 5 passes this year to ensure that gun owners and sportsmen across the state are protected by its strengthened preemption laws.
Once again, please contact your state Senator and urge them to support SB 5. Stay tuned to www.nraila.org and your email inbox for further updates on this bill.

Re: NRA ALERT: 2017-4-20 Tell PA Senate Next Week Vote YES Gun Law Preemption Bill SB
The senate has a 2/3 veto proof majority while the house would need a dozen dems to side with the R's to be veto proof. Wolf is def going to veto it seems so we can only hope he have enough pull in the house. Considering the house passed the bill 134/53 which is about 10 votes over 2/3, we stand a shot of being veto proof. Only time will tell. Keep the pressure up!

If you want some uniformity in how the law is carried out in PA, you might call on your Rep and speak to this issue...now.
We need the House to vote with a veto proof majority...and yes, it is highly possible...but your reps need to hear from you.
Trust me when I say this....the Left is doing whatever they can to keep us from solidifying preemptive law in PA. We need to act with the same urgency.
