Possible Revocation of License to Carry Firearms?

I'm normally the first to say 'give a newb a break' but in this case, I ain't buyin' it. Too much sounds "off" in the OP story.

In the VERY unlikely event that I got to some point where I felt the need to discharge my weapon at home for non-SD reasons and that doing so was legit (and I can hardly even imagine a scenario leading to that), I'd certainly avail myself of the 5 gal bucket full of damping material in my CLOSED garage or basement... To avoid scaring my neighbors and exactly such a "discharge" call to the po-po as we're told happened.

I think we, at best, have a comedy of errors/lack of common-sense here. More likely we have partial-truth/not-the-real-story. Sorry dude, but this thing smells like 4-day old house guests.

IF the story told here is complete and accurate, then my advice, like many others before, is get a lawyer, tell them the real, exact TRUTH, and do the best you can with it.

While everyone else takes a jab at the new member, the lesson to take from this, if you ever do a mod or repair on your firearm, take it to the range to function test it, FIRST, before ammo is loaded into that firearm.

Earlier this week I was arrested and placed into police custody in reference to shots being fired in my neighborhood - the shots WERE fired by me after reassembling my pistol to switch out a damaged firing pin - I informed the arresting police officer that I did discharge my firearm AND provided the police officer with the empty casing. I do have my license to carry firearms.

They confiscated my pistol AND my license (stated it was police procedure). After investigating, the police stated that they decided not to file charges. They told me that I could just file a motion to have my pistol and the casing returned to me. When I asked to have my license returned to me, I was told that the gun permits unit would reach out to me... This kind of worries me.

My question is this: could my license to carry firearms be revoked, despite not being charged with an offense?

I briefly spoke with an attorney; the attorney says that revoking my license to carry could be a possibility, but the likelihood of it would be "unfounded," seeing as how I don't have a previous arrest or criminal record AND I was not charged with a crime.

Has anyone had any similar experiences? Thanks in advance for any response or advice.

We should all keep in mind the possibility that we might be tested and watched on these forums by lobby groups, agents of law enforcement, maybe even law students scooping up data for a thesis project on gun culture. It occurs to me all the time when I read stuff and when I reply. I still try to treat things according to their face value.

I didn't really want to go into too much detail of why, but I'll keep it brief: damaged firing pin; gun discharging even when the trigger was not pulled - it's my personal carry weapon, so I did not want to risk that, nor did I want to risk it going off in my house and hurting my kids or my neighbors.

Took it to a secluded area where I could actually minimize damage to property and loss of life.

You clearly were not thinking this thru...Not sure you should be carrying anyway.
