    Default Long Distance Range

Looking for a range that has distance out past 300m. Want to start testing distances past what I normally shoot at. I'm located right outside of Philadelphia so I know traveling will probably be necessary. I make monthly trips out toward Huntingdon to Raystowm Lake so I travel a good bit already. Any ranges in that area or closer that are past 300m and preferably available to the public. Want to avoid private ranges so I don't have to fork out more money to be a member of more ranges.

I don't know of any public ranges in PA that are that far. Mifflin county sportsman might be close enough to Huntingdon to work though. It's $80 a year for a membership.

Yeah I got to Mifflin Co. Sportsmens. It's probably 45mins-1hr from raystown. It's not public though like mentioned it's $80/yr membership. 1000 yard rifle range.

That's a cool range and only a few minutes from me, but there's tons of things you have to do to actually shoot there. It's not just pay your membership and go shoot, you have to participate in matches and help work the matches. You can practice there then.

It all comes down to insurance. If you seriously wanted to do it, you're probably going to want some kind of liability insurance in the million dollar range.

Is a mile far enough? What if I told you I know where there is a local range, very inexpensive, with markings every 528’?

Yes, boys and girls, The Pennsylvania Turnpike has ‘measured mile’ ranges at least once every ten miles. By law, x amount of those miles have to be straight so that during times of war, they can be used as runways.

Yes, I am kidding! Got to throw that in for the ‘d’s In the group. You know, one of them would do it, and then point at this post and claim they thought I was serious.

Once again, IT WAS A JOKE!
