The instructors were kneeling between us with sheets of cardboard, trying to shield me from a shower of dirt and gravel. The guy was embarrassed. He didn't realize how much trouble it would cause.

As soon as that strap is let loose, the trigger is "hot" and when drawing ... it's easy to lose trigger discipline, especially in a stress situation.

Holsters that cover the trigger FORCE the user to grip the pistol without inserting a finger into the guard.

More safer-er by design.

Exposed trigger thumb break holsters are very common for revolvers. Even if you can't keep your finger off the trigger when you draw, it isn't likely that you'll make a DA revolver go bang by accident.

It is possible if you reholster a cocked revolver, and then have to draw it to uncock it. People do dumb stuff.

What's the benefit of NOT covering the trigger?
