WHAT'S YOUR PLAN TO WIN WHEN TROUBLE FINDS YOU?

The best available data on civilian gunfights suggests that the three factors in surviving and winning are: having a gun, the willingness to use it, and the capability to get results.

So you've got the gun, and you're pretty sure that you're willing to use it to protect your loved ones and yourself. Are you really going to leave the rest to random chance?

Protective Pistol 1 lays the essential foundation of both your mindset and skills. You'll build a default response which statistics suggest will save your life and win your likely fight.

    Expect to see the following:

    • risk briefing
    • course and waiver paperwork
    • risk mitigation and mindset
    • situational awareness and threat cues
    • proper administrative gun handling
    • grip, aiming, and trigger control
    • body alignment
    • presentation from concealment
    • shot placement and weapon effects
    • operating in a litigious world
    • regaining initiative
    • follow through
    • pressure testing your default response

This is a 10 hour event starting at 8:30 am running until 6:30 pm with a (strict) 45 minute lunch break, and several smaller breaks.

You must be able-bodied and in good health. PSC events are both physically and mentally demanding with minimal down time.

You are expected to have a quality firearm. We recommend something like:

    • Glock 19, 17
    • S&W M&P9, M&P9C, Shield
    • H&K VP9
    • Sig P320, P320C

You are expected to have a concealing garment (vest/jacket/shirt), quality belt, kydex holster, kydex magazine carrier, several spare magazines for your firearm, and weapon lubricant. We recommend kydex gear by:

    • C&G Holsters
    • DarkStar Gear
    • Custom Carry Concepts

Expected safety equipment includes ballistic eye protection, filtered hearing protection, and a tourniquet. We recommend:

    • Howard Leight ISSAEE, MSA-Sordin
    • SureFire Sonic Defender
    • North American Rescue C-A-T
    • TacMed Solutions SOFฎTT, SOFฎTT-W

You must have several hundred rounds of factory FMJ ammunition. Round counts are never exact - bring too much instead of not enough.

Pricing for Protective Pistol 1 is $150; additional fees may apply depending upon facilities.

Comes off as almost an advertisement for certain gun and gear companies.

That it does. I do get his point though don't ruin everyone else's day by showing up with shitty gear.

@ WCMG & OnSight Firearms Training: Thank you! Much appreciated!

@ mpan72 & duqjeep2010: We understand your concerns, considering what goes on sometimes in this "industry". Rest assured that we do not get a paycheck from Gaston Glock every time someone shows up to our events with one of his pistols.

We post this list as a courtesy in case people have questions which can be easily resolved on the front end. After seven years of seeing students with every imaginable combination of guns and gear, these are safe bets. Of course that doesn't mean that your own personal very favorite gun won't work just fine.

As to the kydex-benders on our list, these are all local guys who are also friends, and we do indeed support and recommend both our friends and local businesses. However, their gear has been heavily vetted and is of the highest quality.

There are also big name holster makers - Raven Concealment, Comp-Tac, and Blade-Tech, to name just a few - which make great gear as well.

We are always easy to get hold of for any questions, comments, or concerns.

I attend this class yesterday. I was extremely impressed with the amount of training and information we received in one day. I would recommend Jay, Harold and Alton to anyone looking for a legitimate training course.

I haven't had any prior professional instruction, but the skill levels ranged from beginner to intermidiate. They met everyone at their individual level and we're patient and helpful. I was surprised that several people were back to take the course a second time, and one a third. I plan take more of their class offerings in the future. I left with new skills and knowledge which will be beneficial for my continued advancement.
