Default Congressman Marino to be Named Drug Czar: Reports

WASHINGTON — A Pennsylvania congressman may be moving on to a post with the Trump administration.

According to published reports, the president is poised to choose Congressman Tom Marino as his new drug czar.

The Republican congressman is a former US attorney for the middle district of Pennsylvania.

Since 2010, he has represented Pennsylvania’s 10th District, which stretches from central Pennsylvania to the northern tier and across to Lackawanna County and parts of the Poconos.

Congressman Marino’s office had no comment when Newswatch 16 called Tuesday afternoon.

That would explain why his office has been quiet lately with few public events.

This shit pisses me off. His constituents didn't elect him to that position, they elected him to be their representative to congress. I see any kinds of moves like this regardless of who it is as a betrayal to those that supported them during the election. IMO, the only way you should be leaving elected office is in a coffin, cuffs or losing re-election.

I don't have a huge problem with it, he's my congressman. Marino said he awhile ago he believes in term limits and said he planned on never staying longer than 10 years so if he gets another opportunity, great.

Then he should complete his term and get out.

The War on Drugs is another huge money scam foisted on us by the Feds. The billions spent has largely been a waste. I hope the new drug czar looks at cost cutting, and efficiency.

He should do both. What does a drug czar do for 8 hours a day?

No. Congressmen only serve two year terms so the governor can call for a special election or wait for the next regular election but cannot replace him by appointment as he would a senator.
