Thompson 1911
Saw this and thought it looked like a decent 1911 at an affordable price. Just curios if anyone knows about them.

Re: Thompson 1911
I was actually intrested in this aswell. I saw a few weeks ago (I can't remember where atm) a basic blued Thompson 1911 for like $399. I have no gun/fun funds atm so I didnt bother to ask, because I know when I do get the $$$ the price will be undoubtedly higher, or it will be sold out.

Re: Thompson 1911
The only Thomson 45 I seen, was a freind of mines. He had feeding issues using american eagle ammo. This was about 4 years ago. I polished the feed ramp and was still hit or miss with that ammo. Then he moved to georgia. He didn't shoot too much so I don't have any additional follow up info. His was a blued version. Not that that matters much.

Re: Thompson 1911
A friend picked one up new at a show about 4 years ago. POS, won't feed anything.
I believe Gun Tests did a test on them a while abck, and as I recall it did not survive the test.
Anyone got the old tests laying around?

Re: Thompson 1911
Thompson got bought out by Kahr so expect to see the quality goes up a lot , i dont think we should write them off yet, let see what khar is doing.
The old Thompson were owned by Auto Ordnance who did nothing to improve thier guns,John Thompson must have been rolling in his grave.
Lets give them a chance.

Re: Thompson 1911
Correct, the new Thompson 1911's are manufactured by Kahr. Since Kahr's takeover, these are now good shooters for the money. As reviews and articles are starting to pop up lately, you can expect to see the prices increase. Do not compare them to higher priced 1911's such as Les Baer, Wilson Combat, Nighthawks or Kimbers, but they are a good all-around 1911 platform.

Re: Thompson 1911
Kahr's aint all that great, either.
All the ones I've seen that had trouble running were made in the last 5 years.
I'd get a SA, or a RIA for the money.
