Default Reload gone wrong? Glock destroyed, deforming hand injury

This article offers very little information other than the event was possibly due to reload "double-charge." I'm not a reload guy so I'll leave it to those who do to speculate on what may have happened...

    DAMN! That's some scary stuff.

I reload on a single stage, and have caught myself with a double charge. I noticed it right away, and dumped it. Makes me think a progressive might be safer as it would eliminate the Human error of filling the same case twice?

A pistol with a metal frame would have absorbed more of the blast energy and the hand may have fared better.

I think there was something wrong besides a double charge. Hot load and Bullet set back or a barre impingement is more likely.

Squib load which threw the bullet far enough into the barrel (now a barrel obstruction) yet allowed the next round to chamber?

More like someone switched out the powder with flash powder. That is not from a double load.
An m-80 does something similar, and an m-80 is a hell of a lot more powerful, contained or not.

I was thinking something like an incorrect set primer. Since the barrel is still in the slide it appears that something went wrong with the top round in the magazine. Just speculation and truth be told we may never know!

This is the main reason I do not reload.
