Re: why is more expensive better.
Glocks are high-end? I have a couple, but I think of them more like the Toyota Camry or Honda Accord of guns. They are decent and reliable, but nothing impressive to look at and almost anyone of average means can afford one.
Heck, one of the brands I like is the original Harrington & Richardson - once a manufacturer of decent, but budget-priced firearms. My cousin loaned me a Star Model 43 Firestar that I liked - another low-priced firearm.
If a pistol is too expensive and too pretty, I usually shun away from shooting it too much because I don't want to scratch it or foul it up with powder and residue. I was looking at this drop-dead gorgeous Kimber Sapphire II pistol, but wouldn't buy it because I know it would become a safe queen.

I know what you mean, but it was right after Sandy Hook and he was about the only place that had .25 ACP at the time.

Re: why is more expensive better.
there seems to me that this is something that happens all over, and I like many of you would never put anyone down for their gear. hell I deer hunted for years with an old #3mk4 303 that was all beat up. killed a lot of deer though.
I would like to find these guys again and just ask them why my gun was so inferior to them. I would also like to ask them to a match, granted I am no wear the best, but I think I could do well enough to give me some credit.
next time this happens, instead of packing in and going home I am going to stand tall, proud of what I have, and offer to shoot with them. dad always said you catch more bees with honey than vinegar.
I love my gun, I am damn proud of it, and that is good enough for me.

Re: why is more expensive better.
Yes, more expensive can definitely be better. A Wilson Combat 1911 is better than a Taurus 1911. A S&W Performance Center revolver is better than a Llama revolver. So what? if the thing does it's job then its just a bunch of chickens clucking...
Your smith & wesson is not a high end gun, it is a functional gun that you shoot well so there. As for caliber snobs, they're all wrong unless your talking 10mm which as we all know is the only acceptable choice for any application.

A good carpenter doesn't blame his tools.
Let's not forget there are still species of tropical penguins living in the Galapagos.
