That depends on who is doing the identifying.

The word from Targetmaster is that over 90% of the denials for firearm purchases came from folks using Non-Driver license IDs. Insurance gave them some grief and after discusing this with several law enforcement agencies, the decision was made. It also came to light that some felons were coming there to shoot and then having someone straw purchase the gun they liked. This is certainly a CYA measure.

This sounds like the Targetmaster that I know. I go there enough to have seen some of the BS they have to deal with. They have a lucrative business, and need to protect it. I've seen them go ahead with sales that had an initial appearance of a straw purchase after seeing an LTCF from the second person. I've also seen them deny some purchases that looked like they might be not right.

At the range, it's even worse. I've seen them tell people who reek of pot to come back some other time, and then be accused of being racists on the interwebs. They've had suicide problems. Streaker, if you lived out here and have seen what I've seen there, the dress code only screens some extreme Philadelphia problems that make their way out there.

I've been treated well at Targetmaster. I don't waste their time when they're busy, and still only buy when the deal is good. I've always had enough ammo at a fair price, even when things went crazy. The owner can sometimes be a monumental asshole. It is what it is, and in business dealings, take care of yourself first. I care about how I am treated, and really not so much about people I don't know.
