Perry County Regs Shooting on Private Land
My parents are looking to buy a property in Perry. Roughly looking for 10+ acres with a liveable house (they'd live there at least part of the year) and preferably some outbuildings to use for work space.
Shooting on the property (not hunting so much) is definitely a consideration. Wondering if anyone can guide me a bit / point to a resource on relevant county/municipal issues or regs that may come up in selecting a place? Obviously, it's a question that will get resolved before any purchase, but hoping to 'pre-assess' various properties in that regard.
Thanks,
KC
PS - Technically they're open to anything within ~an hour's drive of Harrisburg, so cumberland, york, n. dauphin, etc. But seem to mostly be finding reasonably-priced stuff in Perry...Last edited by KCJones; March 22nd, 2017 at 08:32 AM. Reason: added PS

Re: Perry County Regs Shooting on Private Land
When they are considering a particular property, they'll have to inquire at the local level (borough, township for example) to learn if any ordinances address it.
Assuming there are no ordinances to the contrary, it still may not be the end of the potential issue. An ordinance could be passed in the future. I do not know if grandfathering would automatically apply to such newly-enacted law. Sometimes the shooting rights may collide with verbage in noise ordinances.
Just some thoughts...

IF you're going to tell me what I can't do on my property, than you've conducted a seizure my property and I'll expect compensation.

OK. Shoot deer on your property with no hunting license and apply that when they prosecute.
