Rules are written in the stone,
Break the rules and you get no bones,
all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.

Re: Has anyone built a concealment shelf??
I kind of like these. Easy to install and conceal in a closet or behind a picture/mirror.

Re: Has anyone built a concealment shelf??
I can think of quite a few options to easily hide a pistol. Building them would take some creativity, but it possible.
Inside an old electronic device such as a VCR, cable box, reciever, stereo speaker, clock radio, etc
Inside one of the older "full tower" PC's
Under/behind a baseboard style heating and air register. (Hold in the register in place with magnets so it doesn't get dislodged easily)
Rifles are more challanging-
Inside a big, old console TV
Fake water heater.
Fake furnace, air handler, or ductwork inside a closet (my favorite option)
All of these could be adapted to hide a firearm or other valueables, while making them easily accessible when seconds count.
As for locking up everything away from children, how many of us grew up like that? I'm guessing not many, and we all turned out just fine. In my case, if our child can't be trusted to obey some basic rules, it's a parenting failure on my part, and off to boarding school she goes for correction.

Unless you have children/teens in the household. Put it where you can get access to it. The more, the better. If you have kids/teens, you know best for your situation.

Re: Has anyone built a concealment shelf??
I wanted to build one of the concealment shelves but I don't have the proper woodworking tools.
I could probably manage to build a "frame" for mounting something like wall art, but that wouldn't require the precision of building a shelf that has hinges and moves/locks.
Well, I do have a sliding miter saw like this.
I've only ever used it to cut baseboard. Maybe I do have what I need?
