All good and well, and I agree. However the amount of "tricked out parts" isn't a concern to Glock, and never has been because the Glock was designed as a service pistol, and not a competition gun. A ton of aftermarket parts are avaliable for the Ruger 10/22 to "trick it out" as well. Volquartsen has built a company around them. The Marlin 39A has virtually zero aftermarket parts avaliable for it. Which is the better quality rifle? Bill T.

Comparing a rimfire semi to a centerfire lever? That's not working for me. The Ruger built an aftermarket base due to the platform lending itself to competition and other applications......the Marlin is a bit more hampered. Initial production quality speaks nothing overall regarding the potential of the platform.

The Glock has A LOT of race options, btw. The ability of a platform to be enhanced has a lot of merit in anyone's hands.

I personally shoot a Glock better than the XD, but I won't sell the XD as inferior and it has more things in common with the 1911 than it does than the original combat tupperware.

Saying one firearm fits all people and applications is just foolishness.

I invite you to bring it ot my range, and we will put the XD and the Glock through the exact same torture test that BigBore did to his Glock.

My point is the amount of aftermarket parts avaliable for a given gun means zero as to it's level of quality in the first place. Bill T.

It shouldn't because the Marlin 39A is not a centerfire. It's a rimfire same as the 10/22 is. Bill T.

i think big bore had almost as many rounds through his gun since the last time he cleaned it as that XD had in its lifetime.

    Closed slide in mud:

    Compare:

    http://glocktalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=462537

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

The XD passed the standard Glock torture test. Which makes it better than some pistols, but it still didn't pass the bigBore torture test.

Oh and the XD had parts breaking off of it during the standard test....

"At about 10,000 rounds, I noticed that the cocking indicator had broken off."

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

"The Chemical Degreaser Test. Using GunScrubber, all lubricant was removed from the firearm. After making sure there wasn't any lubricant remaining on the firearm, the gun was fired. Glock's test fired 100 rounds. We fired 150. Result: zero malfunctions."

Which means THEY CLEANED THE FREAKING GUN!

They fired 150 rounds through it with no lubrication....my Glock hasn't had any lube on it since...I dunno, probably getting on a year now.

I think he said in his test, that his Glock has 150,000+ rounds through it, and it had gone 15,000 rounds without cleaning when he decided to do the test. So take 15,000 and add however many rounds he fired during the test, and all the shit it was put through during the test. And he still uses the Glock regularly for competitions and classes.

I've read reports of some range rental Glocks going over 500,000 documented rounds and are still banging away. Bill T.
