What a stupid law. No easy why to find out if you can buy a gun but if you try and fail you go to jail. That is a suppression of civil rights and is designed to put a chilling effect of gun ownership.
"land of the free and home of the brave" are just some words to a old song they sing before sporting events.

If your intent is to buy a pistol and perhaps carry it I will point out the fact that the laws about purchase and obtaining a LTCF are different. The law regarding getting a LTCF are more strict than simple ownership. Assuming you contact a lawyer ask about both.
