    Default CMP-Gun Club?

I would like to purchase a Garand from the CMP, but I understand that you need to be a member of a CMP affliated gun club. Anyone out there know of one that would accept me as a member?

    Garand Collector's Association.
I think it costs $25 and CMP can get your member number directly from them once they get your membership fee.

+1 on the GCA. I joined last year just so I could buy an M1 carbine from the CMP.

PA Rifle and Pistol Association is another good choice. I joined this one so that I could purchase through CMP. However, I joined PMSC to shoot at prior to actually buying anything through CMP and just used that membership.

of course if you lived in western PA I would suggest PMSC.

Appreciate all the reply's on my question. I can feel that Garand getting closer! Just got to convince the wife that I "need" another rifle.

CMP has a list of affiliated clubs somewhere on their website. I know because a few years ago, I bought a Garand through them and followed their rules. Fortunately, I learned that I was already a member of at least two Clubs that qualified. After that I had to provide proof of having competed in an approved competitive match and got an affidavit from a ranger office at one of the places that I shoot at.

    It was worth the effort.

You're not getting a 'rifle'. You're getting a piece of history....a momento of a time of greatness.

I believe that a concealed carry permit will work for the shooting requirement. I think that is what I used.
