Default Help me find some USGI equipment parts......

I've Googled and shopped at craft stores and scoured eBay, and I'm drawing a blank. I need to tap the PAFOA brain trust.

There are these snap fasteners on lots of USGI equipment (gun related equipment), like the 3-mag carriers, the field jackets, the ALICE packs. Usually found on the end of a strap, except for the field jackets.

As near as I can tell, these are designated "size 22", based on the largest cap diameter of about 14.1mm. The female side is about 9.85mm.

I'd like to buy a gross of the things, since it's a PITA to find even one, and a gross should take me to the end of my days.

Anyone have a dealer to get this monkey off my back?

Here's the strap on LCE gear

    They look like these:

    Fabric snaps like this ..

    https://www.mcmaster.com/#fabric-sna...eners/=16q55ss

Mc Master Carr 100ct pack. If they are the right size ?

Was thinking that 14mm is the same as 9/16 as they are advertised.

My micrometer skills are not precise, but I measured the outside as .557", which is close to .5625" (9/16"). It's possible.

It just seems like the military kind of standardized on one size, so there must literally be 100 million of them floating around, and there ought to be a special nomenclature, some "mil-spec" size snap.

Did a quick look at a couple surplus shops. Perhaps something like this: http://www.ahh.biz/hardware/military/snaps/
It ain't what they call you, it's what you answer to.

Going from memory here, knifekits.com? Also, Tandy leather stores may have some. Are they "pull the dot" snaps, only release pulled in one direction? Search on kydex and holster/leather craft. They shouldn't be too hard to find.

Knifekits.com has what they "line 20" & "line 24" (both have a 3/16" post), no "22", and $0.40-$0.50 a piece... but here's the link just in case.

I want to thank all who helped, and here's an update: I ordered 10 sets of "line 24" snaps, despite not being clear on why it says "line" instead of "size". At any rate, they are here, and they are the right size for the snaps on the USGI mag carriers (6 mags in 3 cells), as well as the same size on a lot of other USGI equipment, like Alice packs. Not the field jackets, though, or at least not all of the snaps, because the jacket snaps are smaller.

    So for the Googlers:
What size are the snaps on the USGI magazine carriers?
The snap fasteners on the USGI mag carriers and on the Alice LCE packs are "line 24", and you need the right size anvil and setter to work with them.

I can tentatively recommend the Tandy Leather 3631-00 Line 24 Snap Fasteners Kit, which comes with 20 sets of line 24 snaps, and the right size setter and anvil, and you can pick the whole kit up for under $15. Separately these would be over $20. I ordered a set, we'll see how it looks.
