A person I know used to carry a .44-40 with 3" barrel and birdshead grip as his cash box protection piece. Not my cup of tea, but if he could shoot it, it would do the job as long as he gets a hit before it runs dry. Running out of ammo is the one concern with any gun that uses a loading gate.

I do have a .44 Super Blackhawk near enough to seriously consider using it for HD, though I have a .38 with speedloaders even nearer.

I personally do not. In fact I don't own any single actions althought I have shot them a lot. Anything is better than nothing and I would probably pick that over a single shot shotgun. I would certainly want a faster follow up shot especially if someone was charging towards me. Bullets of most any handgun caliber knocking people down or stopping them in their tracks is a myth.

Saw an article many years ago saying a single action with a loading gate has a tactical advantage. Say you have fired a couple, and now you have the drop on the BG or are in a safe hide for the moment. You can keep the gun trained on the BG and replace the spent shells, while being able to bring the gun into play quickly if needed. Anyway, that's what it said.

I wouldnt go from a semi auto to that type of revolver for HD and in a crisis situation I don't think I'd be concerned with a jumpy trigger finger. In any situation know your target and what's behind it then a jumpy trigger finger isn't a concern.

Because you will get 18-21 pieces of brass all over the floor.
