I generally hold the door for others, but not every time. Every situation is different.

The most likely thing to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. If I found myself in a situation I would have to make a snap assessment of the totality of the circumstance, and make a decision.

I would accept some risk to help others, but I don't think it likely that I would go on a suicide mission. I am defiantly not the kind of person that would limit my action exclusively to protecting me and mine; I'm somewhat disheartened by the number of people that seem to feel that way.

I am equally amused by individuals that are defensive to the point of foolishness. It seems like you feel a certain kind of way.
