Default Changes to LTCF office times

Hey gang, just a heads up: the permit unit is now only accepting new LTCF applications on Wednesday through Friday... apparently they made this change back in January and didn't announce it anywhere. Don't be like me and take a $15 Uber over there just to get turned away.

Just went there about a week ago to renew. Things have changed.
The above is correct Wed, Thur, Fri only.
It's crowded, prepare for a few hours there..

Lobby is being remodeled. I heard that is the reason for being closed on M & T, whole building being worked on.
Nice lady in lobby, signs you in, gives you a number.
As soon as you get off the elevator you are greeted by someone who checks your paperwork. He's looking to make sure you have everything you need. If it's good then you go sign in. This is really a time saver for everyone, not waiting to find out you are missing something and tying up an interviewer. Saw him turn away quite a few people. He's very helpful trying to direct people to where they can go to get what they need. He specifically says "You do no need the two additional reference sheets, they will not be used. Just write the two references on the application, they will not be called." I heard this more than once.

Money Order missing, go here. Need a second proof od address, Comcast has a place a few blocks away, get a copy of your bill.
If everything is good, then you sign in with your number. That is how they call you, not by name. (You are not called in number order, you get called by sign-in order.)

Rest is about the same, have an interview, sign off on it. Gets your prints taken.

They give you a sheet of paper with your file number on it. It says to come back in 45 days (not business days, days) if you do not receive notification before then. Bring the paper with the number. Sign in on the pickup sheet.

Is it as easy as other counties, no. Parts are better than before. It's obvious the lawsuit put pressure on them. Part of the problem is, it's a cramped little office. If they are getting a redo, that will help.

Thanks for the info! Are they still requiring two passport sized photos?

Only one photo needed. Staff I dealt with were professional and pleasant.

The gun permit unit is a police department staffed office with sworn officers openly carrying their service weapon conducting the interview.

Things have changed. When I lived in Philly and applied for a ltcf there was a point that no weapons could pass. I also remember most of the employees being non-LE. This was probably 15 years ago or so.
    Some people just plain suck.

Interesting,I wonder what circumstances led to the cops taking it over.

No matter how many times I read 18 Pa. C.S. § 6109 I can't find the part that says an interview is part of the application process.
