Default Man gets 2 years in prison for owning 5 (real) machineguns- In NJ!

Not really sure what to make of this. I don't think anyone should go to prison for any constitutional right......but.....

A man in NJ was found with 5 working unregistered machineguns, as well as other unassembled full auto receivers. He also had hundreds of illegal magazines (in NJ) and many NJ "assault weapons". I figured he would get a life sentence in NJ but he was tried in FEDERAL court and got only 2 years in prison. NJ dropped all charges.

You can argue that two years is too long a sentence for a constitutional right or too short for having 5 unregistered working full autos and enough NJ charges for decades in prison. But what makes my head spin is that other people in NJ have been sentenced to more than 2 years for driving thru the state or other technicalities.

NEWARK -- The owner of a Passaic County home where police discovered a bunker filled with dozens of firearms, some of them illegally possessed machine guns, has been sentenced to two years in prison after admitting to federal weapons offenses.

Mariusz Cebula, 36, of Ringwood, had pleaded guilty in October before U.S. District Judge Susan D. Wigenton, who imposed the sentence Monday in Newark, according to a statement from the office of U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman.

Cebula was arrested in July 2015 after police, who had gone to his Skyline Drive home to serve a temporary restraining order, found a hidden room containing dozens of firearms, including a 40mm Mk-19 automatic grenade launcher and 262 high-capacity magazines.

As part of his guilty plea, Cebula admitted to knowingly possessing five machine guns in working condition:

    Sten MkII, 9mm
    PPSh-41, 7.62x25mm
    UZI, 9mm
    MP-41, 9mm
    MP-44, 7.92x33mm

Prosecutors said he was also found in possession of 12 other machine guns and machine gun parts, which he agreed to forfeit along with 10 other firearms.

The U.S. Attorney's Office said the approximately 80 firearms recovered at Cebula's home pushed Ringwood to the sixth highest spot on a list of New Jersey cities with the most seized firearms in 2015, based on data collected by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.

In addition to the prison term, Wigenton sentenced Cebula to three years of supervised release, according to prosecutors.

It would seem that there is little about the justice system that is fair or just.

The system is about control of the citizens. It has nothing to do with fair or just.

I'm just glad that they got those dangerous weapons off the street.

I wonder how many murders were committed by those firearms as opposed to the illegal ones in Newark and Camden.

It appears from news reports that the estranged wife was the filer and also informed police of the firearms. They knew the guns, accessories, and ammo were there and they came to confiscate them.
