Restaurants abd Bars
New to PAFOA. I have a CCW permit. I have been told I can carry inside a bar or restaurant. I have also read that I can but have also read I can't. Could someone clear this up? I have searched the internet and can't find answers i trust.

Off-limits places in PA and what makes them off-limits:
1. Court Facilities - PA Title 18, Chapter 9, Subsection 913
2a.*Grounds and buildings of Elementary and Secondary schools(K-12 grades), whether the school is private or public. Affirmed under J-S22025-16 PA Commonwealth v. Goslin, 2016**. - PA Title 18, Chapter 9, Subchapter 912 .
2b. Within 1000ft of a school unless you have a license/permit issued by the state in which the school is located - US Title 18, Part I, Chapter 44, Subsection 922(q)
3. Certain Department of State buildings - by regulation
4. ****Places off-limits by Federal Law or regulation, IE: military installations(exceptions for hunting at some bases), Federal Government buildings, after the security check point in airports, etc.
5. Any private property where a landowner, tenant or person so authorized to maintain property has asked you to leave because you are carrying, or where the property owner or tenant has placed signs or placards denoting that guns are forbidden - Title 18, Chapter 35, Subsection 3503
6. Detention facilities, correctional institutes, or mental hospitals - Title 18, Chapter 51, Subsection 5122
If you do not see the place in question in the list above - then its NOT off-limits in Pennsylvania. Yes, you may legally carry in a bar, tavern, club, or church in PA.

Here is U.S. law:http://uscode.house.gov/view.xhtml?p...edition=prelim
Here is State law: http://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/...&div=0&chpt=61
There is a little bit more for both in other sections but that will keep you reading for a while. Some are complicated and some are simple. There also seems to be contradictory text in different sections but some of that is cleared up by the definitions in a particular section. I keep a link to U.S. and state code on my computer for quick reference. I think everyone should.Last edited by mpan72; March 6th, 2017 at 08:19 PM.

Re: Restaurants abd Bars
The L-12 school is currently in court, with the higher court sending it back down to the lower court with some pretty stern language about not understanding basic English, and the court noting the legislators gave broad leeway to a person carrying a weapon for "any lawful purpose".
The only real question IMO is if the lower court is going to ignore the higher court and send it back up, or if it is going to follow the law, now that the higher court called them out.
I believe it also says "locked" mental facilities."Cives Arma Ferant"

Re: Restaurants and Bars
No law against carrying in either of those places, other than private property rights of the owner/business not wanting firearms on the property. Concealed....is concealed!
