    Default Bore Sight Advice

Keystoners: I have a new Tikka T3 Lite .270, soon to have a Nikon 4x-12x scope, need recommendation on good bore sighting setup to keep me on target. I believe I get what I pay for. Any advice? Thanks.

I stopped using them. I just sight in a 25 yards. when I'm in there I know im on paper at a 100. Just remember a scope that has 1/4 moa clicks isn't 1/4" at 25 it's 1/16". I have a gun vise that I use. I take a shot then put the gun in the vise and aim it on the bull them move the cross hairs to the hole of the first shot. this will get you very close on the 2nd. I sight it so that I'm below the bull the same distance that the center of the scope is from the center of the bore. once there with three shots, out to 100

I for hunting rifles I sight in for Max PBR.

Welcome back to PA....sortof...Shrubdog. And welcome to PAFOA forums.

I've been using a Bushnell 74-3002 Boresight rig for 20 years now. I set for bullseye on new rifle to get on the paper, sight in @ 100yds, put boresight back on and annotate where it's at. I've moved cross country twice, dropped a rifle a few times and when set back to original boresight, rifle hits spot on. Throw it back on before deer season, good-to-go .

The Bushnell Pro Boresighter 74-3333 is the current model. It runs ~$80

I've also tried some of the laser boresighters but I was not real impressed with repeatability. Maybe on of the $200+ setups would work better, but until I break this old Bushnell, I'm not spending that kind of cash when I still get the results with old faithful!

I have the BSA setup and it gets me on paper so I can't complain. Could it be more precise? Yes, install and de-install the arbor and you will get a different POA. Do it a few times and take an average and it's pretty close. For the $20 I paid for it I already made that up a few times over in ammo savings.
