I see nothing wrong with convict labor to harvest crops. Bring back the chain gangs.

I see no problem with that either. You could also add in those collecting welfare checks and doing nothing but sitting on their asses at home watching their big screen TV's.

I have advocated for years to bring back the CCC and WPA and put those on welfare to work to earn their check.

I would propose a change in the laws at both the state and federal levels. First, at the state level. The AG would start a data base on their web site. The police would enter into the data base each time they file a gun complaint on prohibited persons that are caught with a gun.
the DA then needs to add to that the disposition of that charge if the person actually charged and if they get a conviction. Next at both the federal and state laws be changes to make it a minimum 10 year stretch or 20 if they are caught in commission of a violent felony. And add on the same penalty for each round of ammunition no parole possible. The sentences to be served in succession. Unfortunately, today the da's and courts are under financed. This means the DA is more or less forced to make a deal. In this instance, the DA instead of taking the gun charge off the table to get a plea deal can deal on how many rounds to criminal will serve time for. As you can see, a fully loaded 9mm could put the criminal away for the rest of his life. With the data base it will become apparent quickly if a DA is soft on gun crimes.

PA passed legislation back in the 70s or 80s that having a gun during commission of a felony would add an automatic 5 years to a sentence. Sounds good. Not so fast...there has to be aggravating circumstances tying the possession of the gun to the felony. Ooops...many escaped the intent of that law. But the general public was made to feel good when they heard of the passage of it and the sponsor(s) had feathers in caps for the re-elections.

Fat Eddie Rendell stopped adding the five years onto the sentences because Philadelphia couldn't raise taxes enough to pay for the incarceration rate. They collect plenty of revenue but it only goes to certain people and never where it's supposed to go. Philadelphia is the model for crime and corruption.

Incarceration cost 35k a year per perp. Cut a deal and they're out in 1 with no over crowding that some asshat judge orders the release of the jerk offs to ease said over crowding. Pa. is doing the same thing, no incarceration, make them pay a fine to keep their ass of of jail to help with the budget shortfall.

So the take away here is that none of you learned a damn thing from the increased PA state police prosecutions since 2014.
