    can anyone tell me how to remove the rear sight

    Back the elevation screw out until it comes free being careful to capture the spring that lives under the sight. Once the screw is removed the blade flips up. There are 2 screws under there that you remove to take the base off. Depending upon the vintage of the sight you might have to drift the roll pin out the holds the blade assy. to the base to expose the screws.

    thanks I figured it out right after asking it was just as you said i did need to remove the roll pin
