Kinda ditto here. In the end, we're likely taking the 'straight through' route on I-70 from PA to OH to IN to IL.

I'll basically let my brother drive until IL (he considers two-digit speeds slow) then we'll stow any firearms and I'll do a cruise-controlled 70 through IL to minimize any unwanted encounters with our LEO brethren.

All bets off in MO since we're 'constitutional carry' there and I also went to High School with half the MSP officers... We're driving my brother's new car down (Ford Focus RS) and we'll see what that bitch will do...
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer... I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Just for kicks and giggles... Here's what we'll have:

    2 "AR" 5.56 rifles
    2 "AK" 7.62 rifles
    2 glock 9mm pistols
    1 H&K VP9 pistol
1 Ruger LC9s pistol (my "carry")
    1 M&P Shield 9mm (his "carry")
    2,000 rounds of .223 ammo
    2,000 rounds of 7.62 ammo
    2,000 rounds of 9mm ammo

If the polizei do pull us over and check the trunk, they'll have quite some assortment to find!

Scary part is... that's all to support one day of shooting at the 'family farm'.

Just FYI for anyone who cares...

Arrived safe and sound in MO tonight. Took the 'easy' route through WV, OH, IN, IL to MO.

As it happens, straight through without any encounters. Kept it to ~5 over the limit all the way.

Was prepared with all the relevant reciprocity agreements and statutes, but luckily unneeded.

Here's hoping return trip on 3/14 goes just as uneventfully.

Yeah, my family owns a few bajillion acres and a cow or three around Alton, MO in the heart of the ozarks. That's where I grew up.

However, at the moment I'm at my parents' "country house" which is near Hermann, MO - not exactly the Ozarks.

And after all that... the fruits of shooting pretty much 'anything cheap at Walmart' after our trip to rural MO:

    What a waste of food.
Could never bring myself to shoot up something edible unless it was going in the garbage.

I consider neither melons nor cabbage properly "edible." Not really any more wasteful than shooting up a bunch of 'dead trees' at the range either, IMHO. At least the food is biodegradable.
