Best I could do. I took 30 photos but the camera just would NOT focus on the firing pin...

Also, I did not disassemble the bolt prior to shooting.
I typically take apart the BCG and bathe everything in Weapon Shield before putting it back together prior to first use.

This BCG was given some Weapon Shield grease to the exterior.
Not sure if this could be a factor.

I just sent an email to APOC Armory explaining the issues I'm seeing and explained that I had also tried a more powerful hammer spring with no change in results. I asked if they had any thoughs and if they would like to send me another firing pin and I'd send them this one.
I'll keep you posted on their reply.

APOC Armory promptly replied and said that I may have gotten an early BCG before they switched to the enhanced firing pin.
They are sending a new pin for me to try.

I tried the replacement firing pin yesterday
    and all
(Tula) rounds fired without a hitch!
    YAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY!!!

Gotta send a "thank you" to APOC Armory for sending me out a replacement at no charge.

I got some better pics of the firing pins, but since Photobucket has dicked everyone over I need to choose a new photo hosting site.
Postimage is "OK", (pic below) but not quite what I need. (some of my files wouldn't upload because they were "too large")

Excellent to hear! I haven't done any gun work in ages and haven't been to the range even longer, but I've been wanting to do more 7.62x39 projects on top of my other ones. Everything is in boxes and I still haven't set up my new work space since the move.

As for the photobucket BS, I haven't had any issues yet, but I downloaded my photos anyway and plan to find alternate hosting.

    Oh!

My only issue now is that I dicked around with the gas block and now it doesn't cycle. LOL!
When we first tested it, all seemed good. Then at the group shoot, I noticed that it wasn't stripping another round from the mag.

I can't find the instructions (if there were any in the first place) and there are no instructions to be found online. (Seekins Precision adjustable gas block)
I don't know which set screw does what. I just "guessed" yesterday and it just made it worse. I'm assuming the screw in the front is the adjustment and the one in the side is to "lock" it, but I'm not sure. I know the one on the side is super-loose if it's not cranked down tight, so I can't imagine that one is for gas adjustment.

Now I see why the SLR Rifleworks gas block is so popular - that's what I used on my wife's build and it couldn't be simpler - each adjustment is a distinct "click" and it's so much nicer to work with.

    Side screw...

Here are pics of my APOC Armory firing pins along with a standard PSA 5.56 firing pin for comparison.

The closest one is the new/replacement they sent me. The center is the one that came in the BCG that did not work. The back (dirty) pin is a 5.56 FP.

L to R 5.56 FP - APOC Armory "bad" FP - APOC Armory "good" FP

I'm just not seeing anything with the naked eye that jumps out as being "different".

This picture -- right pin has a longer tip. That is the new one, correct.

If not a longer tip, it's turned down further on the point allowing to to penetrate further through the bolt face.

I question this theory because I thought the pin can only protrude through the hole as far as the shoulder of the pin near the rear will allow it to.
This would be why some have had success in filing down the shoulder a hair (red area in image) which allows the pin to protrude through more.

I would need something that can measure all of the aspects of the pin to truly know what is different.

All I really care about is that it works - and it does now, so I'm happy.

I think I mentioned that I mucked up the adjustment on the gas block. Well, I got it adjusted today and it's shooting well.
    Yay!
