Questions about Colt AR15 A3 Tactical carbine

I've got a NIB with a Colt AR15 A3 Tactical Carbine with serial Number BD 0000XX (less than 100). Is there any value to something like this? It was my grandfather's and left it for me when he passed. It's still new in the plastic.

here's a starting point....bear in mind, they are close, but not exact. you will get a year range, but no further...it's a starting point.

Yes. Still researching. Looks like a special gun with a serial number below 134.

Thanks guys. I searched the serial number on that site listed above in the first response post but couldn't find anything on it. The serial number is in the 90's. I know it's just a standard ar15 a3, but i feel like maybe there might be more to it due to the super lower serial number.

call colt...they actually are rather easy to deal with (once you get to a person).

once you get an age range, we can use that as a starting point

It looks like the serial numbers below 134 were pre-ban rifles from the Clinton AWB. That makes them very sought after by those in states that can only have pre-AWB rifles. In PA, it won't be as sought after but a Colt collector may want one because those 134 were made prior to the ban and didn't have the "restricted law enforcement only" roll mark.

Any gun that old in mint condition will bring a premium for a collector.

That was a rare preban during the AWB era, now it only has value to the states that have their own ban and allow the sale of pre 94 AR's. Not sure how many there are.
