Re: Sig P320 Receivers as "Other" to avoid PSP paperwork
Is there an aftermarket supply of frames, either rifle or pistol, where the serialized part of this firearm can drop into?
The Sig P320 modularity is not the same modularity as the AR15.
The Sig has a serialized FCG, unlike the AR having a serialized receiver.

What gun said. You can buy the frames over the internet and ship direct to you. They aren't even considered the controlled piece. That's why you can swap your fire control group and other pieces into the different frames.

Re: Sig P320 Receivers as "Other" to avoid PSP paperwork
As others have said, building a pistol first, then changing to rifle, and back to a pistol has been determined to be legal in the past. The other way (rifle first, then conveted to pistol) requires an ATF Form 1 for a weapon made from a rifle. Idiotic, but that's the (case)law as I understand it.
I'm pretty sure stripping a pistol back down to a bare receiver does not make it legal to transfer FTF, despite the fact that there may not be a way to tell.

Way too much discussion of pistol to rifle and back.
He's not talking about an AR15.
Actually. I have no idea what he's talking about.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Re: Sig P320 Receivers as "Other" to avoid PSP paperwork
I don't know what he is trying to come to either. If you put a stock on your P320 it is now an SBR and falls under the NFA. Just because you can remove the trigger pack from the frame doesn't change that. Using the P320 frame/trigger pack on something like a Mectech upper would be possible if it is compatible with it but again if the barrel is under 16" then it is an SBR. It is popular to buy an HK slecet fire trigger pack and then transfer it between SBR, Rifle and pistol that is compatible with the trigger pack. The trigger pack is the registered "machine gun" but if the weapon is an SBR it still needs to be registered as an SBR.

Re: Sig P320 Receivers as "Other" to avoid PSP paperwork
OP is talking about this
the part in the middle that has the serial #.
That is why I asked if there was any aftermarket frames to make a different firearm other than what Sig had intended.
Until there is, the Sig serialized FCG will come with the rest of the handgun, already installed.

Oh.
The handgun portion had me scratching my head because I just assumed the frame had the SN on it.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Re: Sig P320 Receivers as "Other" to avoid PSP paperwork
Yeah that is the crux of this thread, creating a new franken-gun.
So if one removed the FCG and carried it while leaving the rest of the gun in the vehicle, would one be in violation if entering a post office?
... or need an LTCF if only having the FCG while joy riding?
