Default Concealed Carry in PA State Parks

Is anybody working on getting the "No Concealed Carry" law in PA State Parks changed?

It is my understanding that even with a Pennsylvania LTCF, it is illegal to carry in PA State Parks.

    Thanks,

That is correct. (as posted in the thread where you can and can not carry in pa) as to your original ? I don't know if anyone is working on getting that changed or not but you could try doing a search to see if there are any threads about it.

There are those who are trying to change the law. You are correct, even with a valid LTCF you cannot legally carry in State Parks.

I have a problem with this thread, some of you depending on your location my not be able to carry in a state park but not the case here.

Canoe Creek state park is in my back yard literally, wide open to all hunting in designated areas with firearms.

    Shawnee state park same.

    Glendale state park same.

    Yellow creek state park same.

I walk my dog there daily with a Ruger Alaskan on my hip open carry and speak to the rangers daily after the dog and I are done.

Glad your able to get away with it, but you are in violation of DCNR regulations. I hope you don't run into a gung-ho, by-the-book ranger.

actually, outside of hunting, it is the case there as well (assuming "there" is in PA).

there is a DCNR regulation against carrying in a state park (and it applies to all state parks).

    here is a link: http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/statepar...wrulesregs.pdf

see specifically section "11.215 Weapons and Hunting"

    it states:

    Section 11.215 Weapons and Hunting

Part I: Department of Conservation of Natural Resources

    Subpart B: State Parks

The following activities are prohibited without written permission of the Department:

    (4) Possessing an uncased device, or uncasing a device, including a firearm...except as provided in paragraph (2) or (7)...
Canoe Creek state park is in my back yard literally, wide open to all hunting in designated areas with firearms.
Paragraph 2 in the regulation cited above provides an exception for hunting, but only for devices that are "lawful for hunting under the Game and Wildlife Code".

that exception is why you can use a gun to hunt in designated areas of state parks even though you are not allowed to generally carry a gun in a state park.

I walk my dog there daily with a Ruger Alaskan on my hip open carry and speak to the rangers daily after the dog and I are done.
you are actually breaking the DCNR regulation...which is a summary offense.

Well there you have it. I learned something today. Appearently the six full time rangers and DCNR man should all be fired. Just kidding. I am fairly confident you would have to look pretty suspect or be acting like an idiot for this to be enforced at any level locally here. These are the boys that bitch when we miss geese in the middle of the lake they drove to us from shore and the same ones that tell us where the big bucks are hanging out. I'm not saying its o.k to carry it is clearly not as posted on dcnr website i just reviewed, thanks for the link by the way. I'll be writing some elected officials again due to this thread.
